HCJB Global in Canada
As HCJB grew the need for an office in Canada became apparent. In the mid 1950’s a Canadian office was opened in the Toronto area and was run by Miss. Cuthbertson. The ministry in Canada was incorporated on September 8, 1967.
Its purpose was to act as a liaison for Canadian missionaries serving outside Canadian borders, to issue tax receipts for Canadian donors, and to represent the ministry of HCJB Global. The Canadian office began reaching out to various churches, Bible Colleges and Bible Conference Centers across the country.
Over the years funds were raised to support a wide variety of mission projects and to assist various missionaries as they worked to raise needed support. In addition the Canadian office endeavored to raise awareness of the growing need for new missionaries to join the rapidly growing ministry in Ecuador.
In recent years the Canadian ministry has expanded its ministry beyond that of support services and with this growth of ministry has also come a growth in the number of those on our Canadian team. The present Director of the ministry in Canada is HCJB missionary, Ian Leaver. The Associate Director is Dave Findlay. Both the Leavers and Findlays served with HCJB in Ecuador for many years.
A radio planting ministry inside Canadian borders, headed by missionary broadcaster Brian Seeley, began in 2003 through which God has given us 11 partner ministries, from various provinces, reaching out in English, Low German and Urdu. Much prayer is being made for some pastors who are submitting an application for a Christian station in the French speaking province of Quebec.
In 2005, having completed four years of ministry in Australia with HCJB, Evangelist and Radio Pastor, John Rush and his wife Ann have joined our ministry team here in Canada. In the past 18 months we have rejoiced to see souls come to Christ at ministry dinners, conferences and various church meetings.
Dave Black in Ontario heads up our development team, along with Lynn Mullins in our Cambridge office, as we work harder to keep donors informed as well express to them our heartfelt thanks for their prayer and financial support of this ministry. Lynn also serves as our ministry event coordinator.
Brian Mullins is our Director of Recruitment and Media, having spent 15 years in pastoral ministry and 5 years as a missionary and videojournalist.
In addition Ann Rush, Judy Golds and Sheila Leaver serve in the office in an attempt to stay ahead of the ever increasing paperwork that such a ministry generates.
